On November 25, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) opened the 10th Yanta Scholars Forum in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, in northwest China, bringing together talented academics to witness XAUAT's commitment to attracting global talent through an open and inclusive approach.

XAUAT's vice president Gao Xukuo, extended a warm invitation to outstanding young scholars from home and abroad and several young faculty members shared their personal journeys at XAUAT.

Professor Liu Yan from the School of Architecture reflected on his rapid rise from a postdoctoral fellow to full professor before turning 32: "My early promotion was made possible by the university's flexible policies—especially the separate evaluation track for scholars under 35, which means you don't have to wait in line."

He added, "XAUAT has deep academic foundations in architecture, environmental engineering, and civil engineering, and is home to many distinguished scholars and leading experts."

Professor Wen Gang of the School of Environmental and Municipal Engineering highlighted the role of institutional support: "The university promotes high-level team building through an integrated 'discipline–platform–project' model. I secured a National Natural Science Foundation grant in my second year thanks to team support, and was promoted to full professor in my fifth year—truly experiencing the XAUAT spirit that 'You may walk fast alone, but you go far together.'"

Gao said XAUAT continues to deepen its "talent-strong university" and "open education" strategies. The university co-founded the Silk Road International Alliance of Architecture and Technology Universities and established the the XAUAT-OshTU Institute of Area Studies in Kyrgyzstan.

Domestically, it has implemented flexible mechanisms such as "strong-team" development and "low-rank, high-role" appointments to create a supportive environment where scholars can work with peace of mind and without distraction.

According to official statistics, among the more than 400 young faculty members recruited in recent years, over 40 percent have received national research grants, and 27 have been selected for national-level talent programs.

Through the Yanta Scholars Forum, nearly 100 PhD graduates from renowned universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands have joined XAUAT.
